Job Summary 

Advises quality and performance improvement initiatives on study design, measurement design, and data collection. Performs analyses of data collected for quality and performance improvement initiatives including statistical process control charts and advanced statistical modeling for publication.  Collaborates with internal and external teams to identify and document variation in clinical and operational practices. Present results to all audience levels in person or through web based technologies.

Essential duties and responsibilities

PROVIDE ANALYTIC, STATISTICAL, & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT FOR CHA QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES                                                                                           

  • Advises quality and performance improvement initiatives on study design, measurement design and testing, and data collection
  • Assists quality and performance improvement initiatives in developing quality reporting tools for initiatives
  • Provides advanced statistical data analysis for publication of quality and performance improvement initiatives in leading journals
  • Provides advanced decision support and data analysis to other departments within CHA
  • Contributes to overall quality of data collection and deliverables involving CHA data products

PROVIDE ANALYTIC & STATISTICAL SUPPORT TO MEMBER HOSPITAL PHYSICIAN-DIRECTED RESEARCH GROUPS                                                                                                                                                        

  • Develops cohort datasets based on clinical, financial, and operational criteria established by researcher(s)
  • Assists in generating hypotheses and provide statistical analyses to support/refute research questions through the generation of tables, figures, and other statistical outputs
  • Reviews and contributes to manuscript generation and submissions to peer-reviewed journals
  • Provides support for private and government grant submissions

PROVIDE SUPPORT FOR CHA DATA PROGRAMS                                                                                         

  • Serves as an advisor on quality improvement statistical methodologies on report development teams
  • Provides analytical support and advice on existing and new methodologies used in data program data content and reports

 

Experience and Skills:

Qualifications

Education:

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying.  Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Master’s in Mathematics, Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, or other quantitative field (required)

Experience and Special Skills:

  • Minimum of five years in Business or Health Care AnalysisThree to five years in SAS Programming (Base, Graph, Macros and Stat required)
  • Experience with statistical process control for quality 
  • Experience defining and developing quality measures (preferred)
  • Experience working with large relational databases
  • Healthcare experience (preferred)
  • Comprehensive understanding of relational databases
  • Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies, including statistical process control charts
  • Knowledge of research design and statistical analysis (t-tests, chi-square tests, regression techniques)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Member service orientation
  • Ability to communicate statistics to all levels
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate with physician researchers
  • Ability to display information persuasively in support of data-driven, decision-making 

Licenses /Certifications 

  • Base SAS Certification (preferred) 

Physical requirements 

  • Extensive periods of sitting and keyboard/computer work
  • Communicates in person and over the phone
  • May on occasion be required to lift packages up to 25 lbs.
