JOB SUMMARY

This role is a working Team Lead that will have responsibilities as a Project Manager (PM) leading analytical/data visualization projects as well as aiding in the project management maturity initiative to create a standard methodology using Microsoft Project Professional and lead a team of junior and senior project managers to follow those methodologies. This person is accountable for the overall success of all of CHA’s projects and uses good judgement and critical thinking to course correct where potential roadblocks or scope creep may occur. They will use best practices and recommended tools for planning, budgeting, executing, monitoring, and controlling projects.

The PM is able to build and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and other CHA departments to achieve project objectives in a collaborative and trusted business partner capacity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure completeness and clarity of information in project request and work with requestor to elaborate if needed
  • Coordinate and facilitate project meetings
  • Identify/communicate project variances and employ collaborative risk management, communication and negotiating skills to maintain project progress and achieve desired outcomes
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and problem solving by using appropriate information to diagnose problems and identify possible solutions, document pros and cons of proposed solutions
  • Facilitate requirements gathering and assist with creation of project requirements and/or user stories
  • Manage the project life cycle and work with cross-functional partners to oversee all phases of project completion
  • Apply appropriate methodology to manage progress, scope, schedule, and budget on all assigned projects
  • Perform resource planning activities to ensure resource needs are aligned with project scope and schedule with management/project stakeholders priorities
  • Manage relationship with third-party vendors and coordinate vendor activities with internal development and business process stakeholders/dependencies
  • Manage relationship with other CHA stakeholders and coordinate technology activities/dependencies with business activities/dependencies to ensure effective resource alignment for successful project outcome
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to successfully transition development projects to operational support
  • Conduct iterative agile/scrum activities and meetings, including sprint planning, retrospectives to incorporate lessons learned into future projects, and sprint reviews

BEST PRACTICES/OPERATIONAL MATURITY

  • Work with other PMO team members to advance project management best practices based on sound industry (PMBOK) standards and evolving project management methodologies
  • Recommend methods to mature project management capabilities

Experience and Skills:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management, technology, or related field of study

Experience and Special Skills:

  • 7+ years project management experience leading multiple complex projects in the technology industry
  • 3+ years leading, or mentoring, a team of project managers
  • 2+ years using Microsoft project professional or similar project milestone, resource management and task tracking tools
  • 2+ years’ project management experience preferred in leading business intelligence initiatives, such as Tableau, Business Objects, Microsoft Power BI, Qlik, etc.
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft DevOps preferred
  • Strong facilitation skills of cross-teams and vendors
  • Technical project management experience
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Problem solving agility, able to negotiate compromises through relationships and focus on objectives
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Experience working with third-party vendors
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
